Chauncy Thomas was born in Peoria, Illinois. Having the noble aspiration to become a doctor, he attended Washington University in St. Louis.  After the discovery that he did not love atoms as much as his fellow

pre-med students, and at the subtle suggestion of his freshman year RA (thanks Lois); he enrolled in his first acting class in the fall of his sophomore year.  Much to the dismayed perplexity of his parents, he discovered an intense love for the theatre. And it’s been all downhill since.

Chauncy graduated with a BA in Drama and a BA in Psychology and trekked to Chicago where he explored the non-equity scene.  After a year, he returned to St. Louis and performed at numerous theatres including the St. Louis Repertory Theatre, Shakespeare Festival St. Louis, and a total of ten productions at the Black Rep, including the U.S. premiere of The Real McCoy, for which he received a Kevin Kline nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Play.

In October 2013, after crossing number two off his list of dream roles with a production of Topdog/Underdog, for which he earned a St. Louis Critics Circle nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama, Chauncy moved to New York City.  He performed in To Kill a Mockingbird at Bay Street Theatre, but his ties to St. Louis continue to serve him, having recently performed in Henry IV Parts 1 and 2 and Henry V at Shakespeare Festival St. Louis and Stick Fly at the Black Rep.

When he isn’t performing, Chauncy enjoys writing, roller coasters, basketball, jogging, and most importantly eating.  Specifically cake.  Specifically wedding cake.  His parents are now his biggest fans, and his mother has seen every play he’s ever done.
